It's hard to believe it's already March. The new year started just as busy as the old one ended. But now I take some time off from my clients and dedicate a while to my good old website and as promised I uploaded some pictures I took last year.
Though many people complain about the long and cold winter and the snow, I admit I loved it. Right now a coldfront is bringing snow again, but that'll probably be gone soon. The snowdrops and crocusses are in bloom and await spring. It was actually very nice to have the snow in the garden for such a long time. Finally you see how many animals pass there during a night. The cutest visitor was a red squirrel. One morning I saw it's red tush in the corner of the door to the garden. A hazelnut bush grows there and I found empty nutshells under the bush in the past years. So I put some nuts out on the terrace. The nuts were gone the other day and it took me a couple of attempts until I finally saw him or her grabbing the nuts and hiding them under the hedge. Now I know why a walnut tree that I didn't plant, grows in the front yard.
The snow was lovely most of the time but one day in January I drove to Eastern Frisia to visit a client and that trip was not so nice. The weather forecast was not that bad but the drive up north was exhausting. I left home early morning when it was still dark outside. Most of the snow was gone, the streets were acceptable and I had calculated enough time for the trip. The problem was, that winter road maintenance throughout Germany was lacking thawing salts and though I saw a lot of gritting lorries the motorway was in a critical condition. The weather constantly changed from sunshine to rain and snow and when I saw the first car lying on the side next to the motorway it felt like a hellride. A few kilometers later the motorway was closed due to a big accident and all cars were led to small streets. I wasn't completely lost because I knew the directions roughly but I had neither a navigational system nor a roadmap. But then the prettyness started. The sky turned to a mystical grey-green and it started to snow in thick soft flakes while I followed other cars to the next motorway access. I drove through a forest with huge trees and it was truely winter wonderland. To end this story quickly - I arrived at the client with only 15 minutes delay and even managed to visit my partner system house in Leer which was really nice because I finally met all the people I knew only by phone.
Between Christmas and New Year I once again had the time to relax on Spiekeroog where I experimented with the macro-function of my camera. The idea behind those pictures is a series of desktop wallpapers I'd like to create =) and I enjoyed experimenting with my camera. Take a look at >>this.
I'd love to write more, but I really have to get stuff done. Just a few more notes and links: DRadio Wissen is a very new radio station I recently found and love to listen to. Around the clock reports on interesting topics only interrupted by short pieces of fine electronic music.
Maybe I'll upload some pictures from the a-ha concert I attended in Cologne last year, with my next post. I love their music and it seems that they end their career this year. In December I'll visit Norway for the first time in winter for their final concert in Oslo. Though I'm already sad that there probably will be no more concerts or songs I look forward to my first winterflight and Oslo just before Christmas.
It seems, that Apple opens a store in Oberhausen which is very near. That would be just great!
I must go now. Enjoy the new pictures and have a good day =) Bye
